safety tips
meeting new people is exciting, but your safety comes first. here are some tips to help you stay safe while using larry match.
before you meet
- video chat first. before meeting in person, have a video call to confirm the person matches their profile. larry match offers selfie verification, but a live video chat adds another layer of confidence.
- keep personal info private.don't share your home address, workplace, or financial information with someone you haven't met in person.
- do your own research.a quick search of someone's name or social media can provide useful context before meeting.
when you meet
- meet in a public place. choose a busy cafe, restaurant, or bar for your first few dates. avoid private locations until you feel comfortable and trust has been established.
- tell someone your plans.let a friend or family member know where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you expect to be back. share your live location if possible.
- arrange your own transportation.drive yourself, take a rideshare, or use public transit. don't rely on your date for a ride, especially on the first meeting.
- stay sober and alert. keep your drink in sight and limit alcohol consumption, especially on a first date. you want to be able to make clear decisions.
trust your instincts
- if something feels off, leave.you are never obligated to stay in a situation that makes you uncomfortable. it's always okay to end a date early.
- don't feel pressured.a good match will respect your boundaries. if someone pressures you to meet before you're ready, share personal info, or do anything you're not comfortable with, that's a red flag.
reporting and blocking
- report concerning behavior. if someone is harassing you, being inappropriate, or making you feel unsafe, use the in-app report feature. we review all reports.
- block anyone who makes you uncomfortable. you can block a user at any time through their profile or conversation. blocked users cannot contact you or see your profile.
- contact authorities if needed. if you are in immediate danger, call emergency services (911 in the us). larry match cooperates with law enforcement when legally required.
online safety
- never send money.do not send money or gifts to someone you haven't met in person, regardless of their story. romance scams are real.
- be cautious with links.don't click suspicious links sent through messages. larry match will never ask you to verify your account through a link in a chat message.
- protect your x account. since larry match uses x for authentication, keep your x account secure with a strong password and two-factor authentication.
